Thorens’ standout year was 1957, when the first TD-124 was produced. This turntable would go on to be a classic half a century later, and provided the regular sales required to fund other projects. During the 60s and 70s, Thorens manufactured many of the turntables that are highly regarded today, including the TD 124, 126, 145, 150 & 160.

The arm looks in great condition and has the detachable arm tube and not the detachable headshell. Unfortunately the Thorens applied the direct drive technique when designing their semi professional studio motor deck, the TD 524 (the "24" reminiscing the TD 124). EMT had a similar turntable. It was their answer to the success of the Technics direct drive turntables ever since the launch in 1970 of the SP-10 and the further development of the SP-10 mk2 and mkiii turntables. I would rate it very close to the TD 160, TD 150. Others will rate the TD 125 better, but I personally see the TD 145 as giving it a real run for the money. This Thorens TD145 MKII was bought for a project that never came to be.
